A Few Details
The Approach to the Challenge
After publishing her book, Vivian planned to have a book-signing event where she would sale her book and also launch her new brand “Love Y Vida.” I was tasked with creating the logo, and designing a few pieces of collateral for the event.
After filling out the logo questionnaire, Vivian was excited to see what direction I would take with the brand. She was very clear that she wanted something with high-energy and something that represented her personality.
The flowers and butterflies in the logo are about transformation and liberation; growth and expansion. Her book “I Forgive You” is an emotional account of how she transformed over time and found the power to let go. The business cards, bookmarks, and step-repeat banner were all designed to highlight that vitality.
As I went into the project, I felt like if Vivian wasn’t blown away by the logo, I hadn’t done my job. After going through a few samples, I was clear on what she wanted and when I presented the final prototype, she was moved.
As a designer, I feel that my clients’ brands should be felt deeply. The work should resonate with them. It is a powerful thing to take an idea, and expand on it and use it to motivate people so as their designer, I want to ensure that their values ring true through the art.
